Introduction

A long time ago in a land unknown to us now there was an Empire. This empire reigned over this land for hundreds of years. Their power and majesty had become corrupt over time. Soon the kings to come to the throne became more and more evil. The latest king was the most evil of all. He had two titles, King Jeffery, and Jeffery the Mad. Soon after his crowning there was born a rebellion force. They were called the Celestial Vault, but their location was unknown. Their security was of the utmost to battle the king efficiently. If they were not careful the extreme numbers of the Empire would crush them.

On the outskirts of the Empire was a town called Fife. In this town is where this story begins. An orphanage of the war was located here. Their stories are heartbreaking and consist of their parents dieing horrible deaths. Usually the work of the Empire or beasts of many, but unknown to the town their demise was immanent. The townspeople were oblivious to the hell they were about to endure.

Reasons unknown to them the Empire attacked. They pillaged, burned, and raped. When all was done mere ashes were left of Fife. The only thing that had some shape to it was the church. A sign from god perhaps, or an omen for all others…

There were five known survivors. All of which were orphans of the same orphanage. To make the coincidence delve deeper they were all the same age of eleven years. To add to it they were all born on the same day, June 11th. Then there was a power that all five held inside themselves but were not awakened.

They sat on a cliffs edge around a fire sobbing for their friends. The cliff looked over the remains of Fife as smoke rose like a column in the sky. Their own campfire imitated the town. The children had no idea there was someone watching.

“They are the ones,” he said from behind the tree line under his breath. “The stars have lead them here. I feel an urge, and I will fall my instincts.” He sighed a great sigh, and continued, “Fire,” he pointed to one of the children. “Water, earth, wind, and spirit.” He sat down and watched the tears fall from their faces. He decided to stay concealed and watch them for a time. At the right moment he would reveal himself and guide them to their fates that they were still to young to realize.

Toggle Rules

1. No God-mode, do not control other characters.

2. 2 paragraphs per post. Experienced players.

3. Good Grammar. Turn-base play.

4. Stay active.

5. Once one element is taken, that element cannot be taken again. If someone picks an element for their character (their child) that element is used up. There is Fire, water, earth, wind and spirit. You decide your abilities that go with it.

6. Other characters besides the children are welcomed. I will be playing Raven, the mysterious man.

7. They are children, be realistic.

NOTE: The children can't use their powers at the beginning, and their powers progress in time. Do not be unrealistic, keep your powers at a low level, they are children, in certain situations I will prompt the character in using more power.

Raven looked over the burning town of Fife. Why has his intuition brought him here? This was a town unheard of by him. Not far from the Empire, but not close either. Why did the Empire attack this place?

He sat on a tree stump and pondered the reasons behind this random and senseless attack. Nothing came to his mind. He looked up at the full moon, and the pillars of smoke rising up towards it like hands. Then, restless and anxious, he got up and walked to the cliff’s edge. He looked down once more for survivors, and to his amazement he found one.
Young Eryx walked confused and dirty down an empty street. To his right was the orphanage he escaped from. Raven smiled as he watched the boy stumble on a rock.

“Well then, all dead besides a kid. What did he do so special that god spared him?” He mused. He crouched and continued to watch Eryx.

Raffe was sitting by herself under a tree. She yawned, opening her eyes, and looked around her. She pouted slightly, standing. "It... wasn't a nightmare..." she murmured to herself. She looked around, and held her hand to her mouth. She hated being alone. "I miss the orphange." she muttered, and then quickly grabbed her violin case and started towards the town. "Is anybody here? Hello?" she called out in a soft, velvety voice. She tied her purple hair up in pigtails, using purple ribbons, the same color as her dress. "Hello?"

As she walked, Raffe felt like somebody was watching her. She looked over her shoulder. "Hello? Are you here? Somebody?" She stopped, one foot placed in front of the other. She held her violin case against her chest, looking around. "Anybody?"

Eryx found his way out of the Orhanage, his arms tightly crossed as if he was shivering. He looked both ways down the empty street, the burnt businesses and black smoke was all he could see. He had already cried in the orphanage, so he couldn't work up the tears this time. Looking around he began to walk down the street. "Mr. Morgan? Ms. Gallos?" He was calling out the names of the various shop keepers and people who lived on the street. Eryx didn't have the courage to walk into any of the buildings to see if the people were alright inside. He felt like running, but his legs didn't seem to have the energy. He was constantly looking around to see if there was anyone on the streets.

Looking to the ground he saw a small dagger, the blade covered in ash. Picking it up and dusting it off he gripped the hilt, walking forward with the blade out front.

Raffe stopped when she reached the edge of town. Other than her escape from the orphanage, it had been a long time since she had been in Fife. She didn't recognize anything, but there really wasn't much to recognize. She still had the feeling that she was being watched, but didn't know what was watching her. "Where is the orphanage?" she asked aloud. Only the whistling wind answered her. She bowed her head, looking down at the ash at her feet. "What happened here, anyways?" she muttered. She realized that she couldn't remember how she had gotten out to the tree, or where she had thought about going. "This place is ruined!" she muttered, and tightened her arms around her violin case.

She looked over the blackened buildings, and the tears fell from her eyes. She didn't even realize she was crying at first, but as her tears fell onto her case, she looked down. She fell to her knees in the ash, and suddenly felt overwhelmed with grief she had never felt before. Her case fell, skidding away from her, and she wrapped her arms around her chest. She leaned forward, crying loudly, and screamed out.

“Mmh?” Raven peered over the ruined town and saw a girl. A girl with a violin case, she had purple hair. “And who might this be? Another survivor?” Indeed it was, and Raven showed a slick smile. His teeth gleamed in the moon light. His eyes were hidden behind his hood, but they saw everything.

“This is getting interesting,” he got off his stump and walked to the cliff’s edge. He would lure them here, this place was as safe as any other. The Empire was long gone and seeing smoke wouldn’t alarm them. So he neatly brought wood together and started a fire.

“This will be their beacon. They will come and sit in the fire’s comfort. It is getting cold. They will be comforted by the very thing that destroyed their home,” Raven laughed quietly and turned back towards the woods. He made his way up a tree to watch the town from there. From his stoop he could see the children’s progress.

Rocky brushed a pile of rubble off of the lower half of his body as he woke up. The nasty smell of death was in the air. The destruction existed with no sign of it ever being picked up. No, this town was going to fade away into nothing by the looks of it.

"How'd I survive?" Rocky asked himself as he stood up brushing the debris off of him.
"Ha, can't even kill an eleven-year old. This will be some easy revenge," Rocky said loudly into the air.

Rocky glanced around and saw a concentration of smoke. It appeared to be coming from a campfire.
"Looks like, I'm not the only strong one here."
Rocky began walking over to the smoke while glancing at all the destruction. Rubble and torn down buildings were everywhere. The only thing standing up was the powerful church. Everything else was gloomy and dead.

"I don't care," Rocky told himself. "Everyone at the orphanage was a jerk anyways, I didn't need em. I can be fine all by myself."

The campfire was now in Rocky's sight. A small burning flame resting on some logs. It got his attention, maybe it could summon a few others. Rocky stood by the fire glaring at its latent power. It was small now, but one day, if it burned hard enough, it could be one of the mightiest flames this world has ever seen. Rocky was going to do the same.

Raffe looked around, confused, and caught sight of the campfire. "Fire... that means... people..." she murmured, and her eyes grew even more wide. A smile lit her pretty face, and she began running, her violin case swinging against her legs. She looked around, trying to find an easy way to get up, but tripped and fell. A small, but sharp, rock cut her hand. Examining it, Raffe figured that it wasn't a bad cut, barely even a scratch. Even so, she decided to check it out later, and clean it. She looked up at the fire, wanting to be close to people again.
