In 2018, the idea of gene splicing was proved to be a real and doable thing. By 2024, the technique was legal to be applied to humans between 18 and 21, before the brain was done growing but after it was vulnerable to most 'rash decisions'. Within a span of a year, S.Y.G. Industries had operated on nearly a hundred wealthy members of society. Gerald Henafford (the owner and manager of the company) was publicly admired for his intelligence, as he was the man who had funded and helped with the research on gene splicing.

Mr. Henafford passed away in 2041, two years after his company went bankrupt. His many customers were soon to follow, the 'Spliced Deaths' made headlines in the papers. With their bills rising, more medications needed every day, those that lived gathered and made to sue the previous employees of S.Y.G. Industries, and any scientists that had been a part of the researching and legalizing of human gene-splicing.
